On the occasion of Poland’s Constitution Day, Taipei Times published an article by Cyryl Kozaczewski, Director of the Polish Office in Taipei, commemorating the 234th anniversary of the adoption of the Constitution of 3 May 1791.
Director Kozaczewski underscored the importance of standing together in defense of international law and sovereignty, particularly in light of Russia’s ongoing aggression against Ukraine. He also pointed to the humanitarian cooperation between Polish and Taiwanese organizations assisting Ukrainian civilians.
The article celebrates the dynamic growth of Polish-Taiwanese relations, citing the expanding economic dialogue, scientific collaboration, and increasing city-to-city partnerships. In 2024, Taiwan hosted the 12th Polish-Taiwanese Economic Consultations and welcomed a delegation led by Polish Senate Deputy Speaker Michał Kamiński.
Other developments mentioned include growing cooperation in semiconductors, hydrogen technologies, and the creation of an “ICT triangle” in Poland. Cultural ties were also spotlighted, including Poland’s participation in Taiwan Design Week, concerts by Polish jazz musicians, and the annual outdoor Chopin recital in Taipei.
Poland’s deepening engagement with Taiwanese cities, such as partnerships between Gdynia and Kaohsiung, and Lodz, Lublin, and Pingtung with their Taiwanese counterparts, was praised as a model of European-Taiwanese municipal cooperation.
Finally, Director Kozaczewski welcomed the participation of four Taiwanese pianists in this year’s prestigious International Chopin Piano Competition in Warsaw, as a symbol of the growing cultural connection between the two nations.
